THE ACRE
COVENT GARDEN
In 1982 the building was built as a bank headquarters, with a very solid appearance, using heavy materials that created a detachment from Covent Garden, a neighborhood in the West End of London.
The innovative renovation project, set to become Covent Garden’s largest office complex, creates a sense of openness and accessibility by incorporating physical and visual porosity along the elevations.
The company in charge of the construction of the curtain walls, Gig Facade, contacted NECE since in its vast range of colors it has been proposing, for several years now, many shades of gray in Interference Electrocoloring.
The American headquarters of Gensler, the largest architecture and design firm in the world, had NECE’s samples in its materials library for years.
The project included two shades of gray, light and dark, to be made on different aluminum alloys and geometries, with a guarantee of durability and resistance to UV rays.
